taking flight

This one is my favorite so far.  I was inspired by this.  It started with a few 99 cent fat quarters in black, white, and gray from Joann's. I was just going to practice with the flying geese ruler from "Quilt in a Day".

I had so much fun using the ruler that the practice started turning into a quilt.  Then I decided it needed another color so when I went back for more fat quarters I added a few oranges and reds.

The back took me almost an entire day to sort out.  I love pieced backs and am surprised at how long they take me.  The big piece of orange is from the DS line, also at Joann's.  It reminded me of chicken scratch so had the fowl connection.

Look who I found peeking out of the melting snow!

Taking a rest here...yep, this one is my favorite!

Oh, and I can't wait to hear those Canada geese migrating back for the season!!!

  1. Karen, You should create a book of quilts. Your quilts are beautiful but also your photos like the one in the snow with the Metal Chicken in your yard are so artistic. It would make a very cool book!! J

    1. Thanks Janet. I've been busting out the good camera and having FUN!

    2. I can see that!! What a cool hobby for this insane winter we're having. Keep up the good work.
